“Hey, its me again, 20 years from the future.”
From the Future is a series of watercolor postcards that represent a conversation across memory, parceled to different versions of ourselves. Each painting becomes a letter across time, suspended in both nostalgia and possibility.
The habit of updating unearthed journals left me curious: how do others respond to their childhood dreams, their frantic pace of youth, entries accelerated by an excited hand-pour of new ideas, places, people, and those warning loss. Is it easy, facing every version we’ve been?
What events do we most want to change? If we could tell ourselves the right words, or change one outcome, what fixates us. What has this pattern shown us, if anything, about ourselves, life, emotions, or time.
From prophecy penned in the margins (“things get worse, then easier”), to completed letters and painted memories (“still making your wish a reality”), From the Future wrestles every emotion that comes with the perspective of looking back.
